Terms of Service
Conditions under which smtpprobe is provided.
Service description
Smtpprobe is a diagnostic tool that opens an SMTP connection to a mail server you specify, reads its greeting banner, and reports the advertised capabilities. It is provided for informational and diagnostic purposes only.
Acceptable use
You agree to use smtpprobe only to probe mail servers that you own or have permission to test. Probing a mail server without authorisation may violate the server operator's terms of service, applicable computer misuse laws, or network policies. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to probe the server you enter.
No warranty
This tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The probe results are informational and may not be accurate, complete, or current. Do not rely on smtpprobe results as the sole basis for security, compliance, or operational decisions about your mail infrastructure.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of smtpprobe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the tool, including but not limited to disruption of email service, data loss, or misconfiguration of mail servers.
Modification and termination
The operator reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue smtpprobe at any time without notice. These terms may be updated. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Billing and payments
Current status. Smtpprobe is free to use and no payment is currently required or accepted. The checkout form on the Pricing page is a demonstration only; no real payment processor is connected, and no money changes hands. Do not enter real financial information into it.
Planned Pro subscription. A paid Pro plan is planned at $12 per month (the "Subscription"). When available, a Subscription will grant access to additional features such as PDF export, custom branding on reports, extended probe timeouts, concurrent probes, and higher-rate API access. The Subscription will renew automatically each month unless cancelled before the renewal date. Customers will be charged on the same day each month following the initial purchase.
Failed payments. If a subscription payment fails (card declined, expired, or insufficient funds), access to paid features will be suspended after a grace period. The operator will retry the charge automatically up to three times over five business days. If all retries fail, the subscription will be cancelled and access to paid features will revert to Free tier. The customer may resubscribe by updating their payment method and initiating a new charge.
Refund policy. Refunds are not offered for partial billing periods. If a technical defect prevents access to paid features for more than 48 consecutive hours, a pro-rata credit for the affected time will be applied to the next billing period. Cancellation requests are honoured immediately; the customer retains access to paid features for the remainder of the already-paid billing period.
Payment processor. A third-party payment processor (Stripe or equivalent) will handle all payment card data when the Pro plan launches. The operator of smtpprobe never sees or stores full card numbers. These billing terms will be updated with the processor's name when it is connected.
Governing law
These terms will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction the business owner registers in. That jurisdiction is not yet determined and will be added when the owner provides legal entity details.
